Two of Telford and Wrekin Hockey Clubs junior players, Ollie Brannen and Saffy Pemberton-Jandu, were chosen to represent the Mercia Lynx U15 boys and girls teams at England Hockey’s Futures Cup competition.
In order to be selected for the Mercia Lynx players were chosen from their respective Performance Centres. Games were played against the other three squads that included the Pennine Pumas, Saxon Tigers and the Wessex Leopards.
The Futures Cup is run by England Hockey which assists in the selection of the England National Age Groups.
Both players represented their club extremely well, but a particular highlight was Ollie Brannen’s excellent drag flick which made England Hockey’s Social Media pages.
Chairman of the Youth Section at the club Sunny Sahota says, “We are all very proud of Ollie and Saffy being selected for Futures Cup, and great to see them do well. We are all excited to see their development in the future and hope that they can continue to represent the club at the highest level they can.”
