Telford teams strike gold again!

The mixed 7's U16 and senior team repeated last years success winning the 127th Wenlock Olympic Games hockey tournament.
With temperatures into the low 30c's under a blazing sun all the teams found the going tough.
The U16's got underway first with comfortable wins against Oswestry 3-0, Shrewsbury 4-0, William Brookes 4-0, but were held to 1-1 draw against Bridgnorth. The final games saw them play Ludlow who had also won three games and drawn one, where they were 2-0 winners securing the top spot.
The seniors had the uneviable task along with Oswestry of playing their four games straight through, however they enjoyed comfortable wins against Bridgnorth 4-0, Oswestry 7-0 but managed only a 1-0 win against Ludlow.
Their final game against Shrewsbury who had also won their three games was the tightest game of the day and although we had plenty of chances the score was 2-1 to Telford. The medals for the senior tournament was presented by the Olympic Triple Jump Gold medallist Jonathan Edwards.
A big thankyou to Ludlow HC and in particular Roger Furniss and Martin Watts for running the event.
