Policy framework provided by EH, the club, and your responsibilities
This is a guideline for taking on volunteers into club roles and the process to follow.
All volunteers, coaches, team managers, technical delegates and officials are required to work to the standards and policies as determined by England Hockey (EH) and in accordance with TWHC’s implementation guidelines and operating best practice.
There are a number of volunteer positions within TWHC, most noticeably in the following areas/tasks:-
- Coaching
- Umpiring
- Team Management
- Fund raising/event organising
- Technical /website data
- Manual operation tasks up at the pitch
- Committee
- Help with junior teams
If you have skill or willingness to help, then please contact any member of the committee
The role can be described to you, tailored to meet your needs and the Club needs, and help will be provided.
In many areas, like coaching & umpiring, we provide training and also access to various documents that you need to be familiar with in order for you to carry out your role in accordance with the EH and club policy framework. Support Packs are available both via the club website and via the England Hockey website
- Duty of Care & Safeguarding People in Hockey;
- EH/TWHC ClubMark processes and guidelines, incl. DBS checking, youth and club development

Depending on your role you may be required to undertake a DBS check, and in accepting the role you will have been asked to confirm that you know of no reason why you should not be considered a fit and proper person to fulfil that role within TWHC. We also ask you to sign this form in the space provided below.
