Match Report

Telford and Wrekin ladies remain top of Midlands Feeder League West, despite only managing a draw at home to Stone.  In the first half, the Telford side battled hard and created a number of chances only to concede a scrappy goal against the run of play.  They came out fighting in the second half and scored first.  Nelly Tyanase worked hard in midfield to create the goal, although it was Lorna Mackenzie who had the final touch.  With Sarah Poole having worked hard to keep the main Stone playmaker quiet for most of the match, Telford and Wrekin were unlucky to be hit by two goals on the break.  Telford fought back to draw level through Jodie Lane, who scored from a short corner, and Lorna Mackenzie, who created space at the top of the D before sending a reverse stick shot high into the net.  Telford then took the lead for the first time in the match after Chez Lane drove in to the D and fired the ball past the Stone goalkeeper.  However, with only a couple of minutes of the game to go, Stone converted a short corner giving a final score of 4 – 4.  The first team travel to play Sutton Coldfield 3 this weekend.
