Match Report |
Even though it was an early 10:15 start away in Manchester, Telford arrived to what looked like a somewhat frosted over pitch, fired up and ready to give it their best shot!
Telford knew this was going to be a tough game, but they started with real purpose and took the lead within the first ten minutes with well worked team goal slotted away by Lorna Burns. Telford continued to apply the pressure, with some relentless midfield dominance, in particular by Helen Pitson, who was instrumental in setting up the second goal, scored by Helen Miller.
As half time approached, Telford continued to move the ball around confidently, leading to another goal scoring opportunity, that didn’t go begging, with Lorna Burns taking full advantage, bagging her second of the game. This took Telford into a 3-0 advantage at the interval.
After the break, Telford resumed not fully focused and this small lapse in concentration allowed Didsbury to capitalise to score a breakaway goal. With 15 minutes to go and the score locked at 3-1 to Telford, they finally converted a short corner, scored by Rachel Eastland to finish the game 4-1 win to Telford, going through to the quarterfinals against Aire ladies at home.
