Match Report

Following a 100% success rate in the season so far, the mixed masters team assembled in Sutton Coldfield for a chilly away fixture against a youthful Sutton side. The game was end to end from the start with Bomber and his defensive unit controlling play from the back making Sutton look like they had two left feet. Penny was also having a great game in goal. Unfortunately Bomber was then hampered- looking for Stu, after his hearing failed him and he misheard ‘pass to Sue’. Telford squandered their chances up front but developed some good link up play as the game went on.

The game was 0-0 at half time with both sides already looking forward to a beer and some chips.

Sutton scored after a rebound was snuck in and had there been a VAR we believe it may have been a different decision.

Almost everyone in the attacking unit had a shot including a windmill from Billy Dance (sorry France) followed by a ‘swing’ and a miss from Lianne and Ratchet needing to recalibrate her cross. Short Corner routines were thwarted by the Sutton defence and even Birthday boy Alan Brennan with his right hand seemingly frozen cold half way down his stick could not get a hit in as the Sutton defence kept us keen. Finally a crossing ball found an uncontested reverse stick defection from Nightingale running into the D, which should have been in but hit the post sealed our fate. Even a bottom wiggle on a short corner didn’t help.

Post match hospitality was a cracking spicy chilli and chips at the local pub! Thanks Sutton!

A score of severrrrrn for the team this week. The league continues after the Christmas break with a game back at lilleshall on the 13th Feb. In the meantime ……… keeeeepppp dancing.
