Match Report

Telford 3's welcomed Old Wulf 1’s to St George's for their second preseason match. With only a squad of 12, including 3rd team debutant George Pittson, Telford were expecting a tougher game than what stood before them.

After a minutes silence to honour the passing of the Queen, Telford got the game started with quick pressure putting Old Wulfs defence under lots of pressure. The first goal of the game came from the left of midfield with George getting the ball before passing it across the ‘D’ to find Luke who put the ball underneath the Keeper! 1-0 Telford.

The second goal of the game came through George once again, receiving the ball at the top of the ‘D’, before finding Ben Stevens on the baseline, who waited for the keeper to commit to going to ground before calmly taking the ball around him and slotting home to make it 2-0 Telford! A third for Telford soon followed, this time with Ben having space in the middle of the pitch to drive forwards, with a lucky pass finding Roman, making the half time score 3-0 to Telford.

The second half started with Telford once again piling the pressure on the Old Wulf's goal. Telford's 4th goal came from Will Gough with a 5th coming from Billy's strike off a short corner being deflected into the net of the goal. Ollie Firmstone was the next to add his name to the score sheet before leaving for uni next week to make the score 6-0. Ben soon added his second (with no one remembering how he scored it!) and not long after his third and Telford's 8th with a powerful strike off a short corner finding the bottom corner. A good game for Telford's younger third team, with class and patience shown throughout the team. Special mention to George Pittson with two assists on his 3rd team debut.
