Match Report | The 1st XI travelled to play Boots in Nottingham in their final friendly match before the start of their league campaign. The Telford team competed well, and were unlucky to go behind after 7 minutes when Boots scored from a penalty corner. The score was doubled on the stroke of half time, again from a penalty corner, with the Telford side unable to clear their lines. It was a similar story in the second half. Telford created a number of chances, and a superb strike from Rachel Evans was only inches wide of the post. However, the score finished 3 – 0 after Boots converted yet another penalty corner. Captain Shirley Hasenauer said ‘I think we were really unlucky to concede goals from three short corners, when they barely had a shot on goal in regular play. New youngster Becky Wealthall played very well, deserving the player of the match award in only her second ladies game.
The first XI squad were: Amanda Bailey (Muppet), Shirley Hasenauer (Captain), Karen Jackson, Becky Wealthall, Sandra Pattinson, Guayarmina Molyneux, Kirsty Greenhead, Sue Hughes, Rachel Evans, Sandy Duhra, Anna Jones, Jodie Lane, Lorna Burns |
