Match Report

Telford travelled to Birmingham Uni for a late pushback and after a few naps on the way the girls were raring to go to play under the lights. Telford started well by dominating the play for the first 15 minutes denying Birmingham access into their 25. Some excellent  attacking play down the left from Jodie Lane, she had 3 of the Birmingham players in her back pocket. With some loose balls into the D Telford were unable to create chances to have a shot on goal. After being awarded two short corners, Telford were close to converting after Grace Flynn slapped a ball closely missing the near post. After a scramble at the top of Telfords defending D, one the Birmingham players ran onto a forward ball to push it past the Telford keeper to open the score line. 1-0. Telford went back into the game keeping most of the possession, resulting in 2 more short corners again saved well by the keeper and unable to convert. After back and forth play, and an unlucky pass from one of the Telford players allowed a birmingham centre forward to receive the ball and take it round the keeper to put the ball in the net. Some really positive play from Telford the girls left the game with their heads held high going into next weekend with a double header hoping to result in 6 points.
A well deserved man of the match for Jodie Lane
