Telford W1s hosted Loughborough Town at their swamp on Saturday after a good few winds under their belts.
The first half was promising for Telford with most the possession and a few near misses. However Telford couldn’t seem to get the ball in the back of the net. Loughborough bit back. After an unfortunate foot missed by the umpire, Telford were on the back foot resulting in Loughboroughs first goal at 1-0. Telford heads dropped resulting in Loughborough putting an additional 2 past Pinocchio, ending the first half at 3-0. After a few roars from Shrek at half time, Telford led the second half with a venomous bite back where Jodie Lane used her skills to zig zag past the back line crossing the ball for Lorna Burns to finally put Telfords first goal to bed! 3-1 The fire ignited in telfords belly’s and they were ready to put up a fight. Telford took control after dominating the first 20 minutes of the second resulting in a short corner, where our favourite princess Snow White (Katherine Sinclair) fired the ball into the bottom left corner. The rising tension of the game resulted in Telford going down to 10 men on two occasions due to cards (naughty fair godmother & Fiona) izzy Moore helped run the game for Telford with 11/11 of Loughboroughs players in her back pocket resulting in a well deserved man of the match.
Both teams put up a good fight but unfortunately Telford stepped up a gear a little too late.
Next week see the swamp gang travel far far away to take on University of Birmingham with naughty Fiona cheering on the side line!
