Match Report

Telford W1s hosted Lichfield W2s at their swamp for the first match back after Christmas. As soon as pied piper blew the whistle, the ladies were back to it, dancing in full force, with high energy. The first half ended with Telford being in the lead by 1-0, as Lorna Burns was able to keep possession within the D, using a few seconds to her advantage, shooting the ball straight into Lichfield’s backboard.

Puss-in-boots wasn’t the only team member to be shivering in her boots, as Lichfield’s striker found herself in a 1-vs-1 situation with the goalie, Charlotte Eyre, where the ball narrowly missed the goal, rebounding of the side post which was then cleared by Telford defenders.

A very well worked counterattack in the second half consisted of Katie Parsons passing the ball to Chez Lane at the top of the D where Chez smacked the ball towards the goal. As a consequence of Gingerbread man running as fast as she could, without being caught by Lichfield players, Lorna got a cheeky touch of the ball on the post, scoring.

The score quickly changed to 3-0 as Meg Lancaster smacked a powerful ball in the D, causing an opposition to accidently deflect the ball into their own goal.

Man of the match, Izzy Moore dominated the right side of the pitch like the Queen she is, using her skills to gracefully run through multiple Lichfield players, and eventually win Telford a short corner. One of the routines performed by Telford, consisted of Kathryn Sinclair hitting the ball straight into the bottom left corner, finalising Telford’s win to 4-0.
