Match Report

Telford travelled away to Edgbaston hoping to bring home 3 points after an unlucky stint over the last few weeks. The girls warmed up well and grabbed their pitchforks and lit them on fire as soon as the first whistle went. Telford dominated the play and after a poor first touch by the opposition, gave Jodie the opportunity to steal the ball finding Lorna ahead who fired home for the 1st goal. 1-0.

Telford kept the ball high up the pitch forcing the Edgbaston defence to panic, allowing Katy Pennell to intercept a loose ball directly top D from a poor pass from Edgbaston. Katy found Chez top D who played a through ball to Lorna Burns who again scored a screamer top bins adding to her tally and making the score 2-0.

A few break throughs  for edgbaston was no challenge for Telfords defence who denied entry into the D, and slowly watched an array of balls float off the back line to gain possession. Telfords defence dominated their D, transferring the ball high up the pitch to find midfields and forwards creating excellent attacking opportunities. Some excellent balls from Jess Maddocks from the back finding chez on the baseline and jodie down the wing proved a struggle to edgbaston.

Shortly after a short corner was won by Chez,  allowed skipper Kathryn her first goal of the game with a sweet hit from top D through the keepers legs vibrating the back board, 3-0 for her swamp gang.

Telford continued to link up well going forward, after chez closed down a poorly executed 16 taken by the opposition finding Mia Price on the P spot who slotted the ball away nicely with an excellent tap in. 4-0.

Another excellent assist from chez found Katy Pennell to touch the ball in nicely to make it 5-0.

The second half approached 5-0 up and edgbaston applied the pressure going forward, creating some shots on goal and winning short corners. Keeper Charlotte was on top form saving every shot on goal and dominating her D.

After many goal scoring opportunities Telford failed to score in the second half finishing with a 5-0 win.

A well deserved win for the swamp gang, Man of the match awarded to Lorna Burns.

The girls travel away  to Towcester for a 2pm start, plenty of time to make some waffles, hoping to bring home 3 points again.
