Match Report | Telford Ladies hosted Solihull Blossomfield to their swamping ground in hope of a three-point snatch. A quick goal enabled the opposition with an upper hand lead, but like onions having layers the game soon changed with Lorna Burns converting the first goal for Telford Women. Unfortunately, this did not drop the heads of the opposing team who came back fighting causing the half time score line to be 4-1. A half time talk from Shrek prompted the Women to start playing our own standard of hockey with Chez Lane converting a deflection in a short corner and Emma Thornbury lobbing the keeper with a slick slice. The hard battle from the defence line-up throughout the game allocated Courtney Lancaster man of the match with her ability to find and breakdown gaps within the opposing press providing vital opportunities for the forward line to capitalise. Unfortunately for Telford, the final whistle blew at a 5-3 loss. The girls are continuing to work hard to get back on the winning streak and give the women’s league a pitchfork fire battle with travelling away to Edgbaston first on the list. |
