Match Report

Telford W1’s travelled to King Edwards VI Girls high School, where they played against Harborne W1s. The game started off very even, where the results could have ended either way, unfortunately Harborne W1s were able to take the win this week.

In the first half, a fast attack by Jodie Lane who just narrowly missed scoring a reverse, lifted the spirits of the team. Soon later, Harborne W1s won a short corner, putting them 1-0 up as the ball was deflected into the top left corner of the goal. However, this didn’t bring down the team and the whole team worked together, where a short corner was won by Katy Pennell. Subsequently, Kathryn Sinclair took a hit from the top of the D, allowing Hattie Cook to have a cheeky touch on the ball, causing the ball to fly past the keeper, into the goal. Equalising the game to 1-1.

Going into the second half, the girls Harborne were able to move the ball around Telford, which ultimately lead to Telford conceiving a goal, making the game 2-1. The girls kept their heads held high, taking any moment they could to score again. The last few minutes of the game consisted of Telford winning 2 short corners consecutively. Megan Lancaster was denied a goal as the ball was stopped by a Harborne defender on the goal line.

Unfortunately, the girls were unable to score from the last short corners, giving Harborne a 2-1 win.

Telford W1s host Solihull Blossomfield 1s next week.
