Match Report | Telford hosted an important match against Newport 3rds and were looking to bounce back after their defeat to Shrewsbury.
Newport played a high press which saw Teford make a few mistakes at the back and Newport capitalised and scored from these. Half time saw the score at 2-0 to Newport.
The team pressed hard at the restart, gaining a few short corners but unfortunately couldn't make the most out of them. John Keeble received a yellow card after a stick infringement and Newport took full advantage of this by scoring 2 more.
With 15 minutes left John Higginson made a superb run through the whole of the oppositions midfield before being clattered by a defender. Everyone stopped waiting for the short corner to be given, however Ewan took full advantage ... of the advantage and drove towards the keeper. Ewan slipped it left to Coler who slotted it underneath the keeper to pull one back for Telford! Despite the team feeling a potential swing of momentum in our favour, Newport scored 2 more before the final whistle. 2 back-to-back disappointing results against opposition whom we're fighting for promotion against. However the team were calm after the game and spoke of how we will rectify these results when we visit the opposition in the 2nd half of the season.
Scorers: Ian Cole
Assists: Ewan De Vere
M.O.M: Jack Lamb (I nearly forgot to mention how Jack flicked the ball midair past a Newport player in the 2nd half! The Crowd and Telford bench cheered in disbelief of what they just witnessed!) |
