Match Report

Telford and Wrekin fourths welcomed Market Drayton seconds on an overcast Saturday afternoon. Both teams started brightly with Telford gaining the majority of possession. Telford made this count in the fourteenth minute when Tom Lauder managed to take the ball in the D towards the baseline on the left post. Tom somehow managed to work a pass across to Scott Marshall on the P spot. Scott slammed the ball through the Drayton keeper. In the twenty-second minute Tom would provide another assist when he received the ball on the right of the halfway line and passed to George Pittson on the right wing who had found some space. George confidently ran all the way in the top right shoulder of the D where he shot into the left corner after spotting the keeper had covered the right post.

After half time Drayton came back into the game as Telford struggled to find their rhythm. A misplaced pass on the halfway line to the Drayton midfield saw them advance up the pitch. A pass to the Drayton attack in the D was closed by Thomas Cornwell in goal but a reverse shot squeezed through and rolled very slowly over the line to half Telford's lead in the fourtieth minute. Drayton became quite agricultural after this and were fortunate to have only one player carded. Telford continued to struggle with their game but did score again in the sixty-first minute. George had a shot from top D which was blocked by the defence, but the ball managed to bounce through to Conor Ashbridge who dispatched a confident shot on the bouncing ball into the right of goal. Telford would see the game out from this point.

Man of the Match was awarded to George Pittson for his clever movement, cool temperament in front of goal and great pass making.
