Match Report

Telford’s Men’s 3rd team hosted second bottom of the league Tamworth 1’s in their final home game of the season. The only changes to last week’s squad was Josh Carr-Yeztes dropping back into the fourth team, Ben Edwards serving his one-match ban, and Jon Woodrow unavailable, with Ryan Dymond-Link coming back into the side.
Telford got the game going, and instantly put the pressure on 10-man Tamworth, forcing their back-line into some last ditch tackles. It was Matt Fennell-Fox who got the first goal, being played in by Dymond-Link. Fennell-Fox took his time to compose himself, before expertly hitting home his 4th goal of the season. It didn’t take Telford long to get a second with Luis Parker picking up the ball from Telford’s midfield maestro Glynn Summerhayes, with Parker lifting the ball over one defenders stick, before smashing in a powerful effort to make it 2-0 to the home side.
Andrew Lloyd soon made it 3-0 to Telford, with Luke Oldham producing a great display of skill down the right hand side before finding Lloyd, who drove into the ‘D’, beating multiple players before reverse flicking the ball past the ‘keeper. Telford won multiple shorts, but nothing was to come with any of them, until Ben Stevens stepped up, with the injection by Summerhayes perfectly trapped by Sahib Dhanjal, before Stevens sent his drag flick into the roof of the net.
4-0 would remain the score until half time, with Tamworth starting to tire after relentless attacks from Telford which could have resulted in many more goals.
Ryan Dymond-Link added Telford’s last two goals, both coming from penalty corners, the first flicked hard and low at the ‘keepers foot, the second central and high. Telford would continue to carve out chances, with multiple chances being missed on the back post and some great saves by the Tamworth goalkeeper.
Tamworth thought they had seen red, after umpire Bradley Williams didn’t like what he heard off the ball from a Tamworth defender, but after a conversation with the Tamworth captain and fellow umpire Noah Higginson, agreed that no card would be given out to the visitor.
The game finished 6-1 to Telford, giving Telford their biggest win of the season as they try and hunt down 4th in the table, sitting on 39 points (when the Wednesbury result gets added to the league standings!) level with Bloxwich. Telford’s final game of the season see’s the team travel away to 10th placed Finchfield 3rds for a 12:00 pushback.
MOM – Ryan Dymond-Link
DOD – Luke Oldham, with an honourable mention to Bradley Williams for ‘pulling out the wrong card’
