Men's 3rd XI Vs Stone 2

Telford 3's welcomed Stone 2's to St George's, for a late 4:30 pushback under the new floodlights. The 15 man squad knew it would be a tough game against the top of the league, even with them only having the bare 11 players. 

Stone started the game, with the Telford forwards pressing high from the start. Chances came for both teams but it was Stone who scored first working the ball around Telford's defence to get the ball past Dom Pritchard in goal. 

Telford kept the pressure on Stone, testing the stone defence by working the ball down the flanks through Rajdeep Sandhu and Luke Oldham. The Telford goal came just before half time, with Rajdeep winning a penalty corner on the left side of the 'D', before slotting the ball past the keeper to equalise for Telford! Captain Chris Nightingale picked up a green card before half time, for knocking the ball away after not being 5 from the free hit. 

1-1 was the half time score, and with Stone tiring, Telford were full of optimism that three points were possible. The second half was mostly played in the Stone half, with their defence crashing the ball down the pitch. Telford had lots of chances, earning many short corners but nothing coming from them (some injections not even making it out of the 'D'!!). 

With only a few minutes on the clock, Telford once again won another short corner. Sahib's trap at the top of the circle bounced off his stick, with Tommy L striking the ball, and injector Moet tapping the ball in at the back post! Telford's bench cheered thinking 3 points were secured, however the umpires judged the ball had not left the circle. Telford had to settle for a point after thinking they had won. 

MOTM went to Rajdeep putting in a great performance on the left wing, and DOTD went to Dom, for using his feet outside of the circle and neither umpire seeing it! Next week Telford 3's travel to Stafford to face their 2nd team, who currently sit 9th in the league.
