Men's 3rd XI Vs Beacon 3

The Men's 3s trotted down the M54 to play Beacon 3s at the sandy Streetly School. 

With the game before us running late the captain encouranged the players to go for a warm up and team chat around the other side of the school so the oppo could not hear our team tactics... 

With the game play discussed we then found ourselves locked in an area after the caretaker decided to go home, leaving us to jump wall and play the crytsal maze with us looking through the fence telling people to press the button to get ourselves back to the pitch a fraction late!! 

AJ on his first game this season and retuning player (for some 10 yearsish) Raj Sandhu joined the team this week.

Ben Edwards after his 'long' term injury also made his return plus Josh Yetz made another appearance from the m4s.  

We were soon 1-0 up and full of spirits after a reverse from Ben Edwards. 
1-0 came 1-1 after Captain Nightingale tried to stop a shot corner hit on the post but ending up deflecting it into our goal! 

AJ made the scoresheet 2-1 after finding the goal from a short - short corner routine! 

Half time come and the talk was that the game was ours to win, but keep the play simple, the tempo high and not to panic on the ball and passes. 
Beacon made it 2-2 with a through ball to the centre forward that caught the sleeping defence out!

Beacon made it 3-2 after a miss pass across the middle got picked up by Beacon and duly scored. 

We were livid! 

Telford kept pushing, reducing our own silly mistakes that had been helping Beacon and the play improved.. Sammy grabbed the next goal as he cooly flicked the ball over the keeper to make it 3-3,,,game on.
In the final 8 minutes Roman got his reward from his efforts to grab the goal after a in the D scramble! - Telford 4 - 3 Beacon!

Final whistle blew and the huge relief of recovering the win could be seen on all of us! Well done everyone, 3 points, but we let Beacon come back in the game here.. 
This season is going to be a hard battle the the M3s but after week 4 each player is improving and understanding the next level of hockey we have to play.
