Match Report

Telford 3's welcomed North Staffs 2's to St George's for a late 4:30 pushback. The 13 man squad included Josh Carr-Yetzes, who was making his league debut for the 3rds.

The game started with Telford being unable to get out of their down 23, with North Staffs press holding Telford back, but the defence happy to patiently pass the ball around the back. Breaks came as Telford defence slowly stepped up the pitch, with Josh being deployed down the left using his skills to push Telford towards the goal.

The first chance came from Ben S, who was played in 1v1 with the keeper by Josh. Ben managed to leave the ball behind at the last moment, before getting his stick around the keepers pads for a weak shot that was stopped on the line. Telford struggled to make more chances, with North Staffs grabbing a goal from a well planned short corner routine working the ball around Dom in the Telford goal.

Half time came with North Staffs leading Telford 1-0. The team knew something could come from the game if they could take their chances.

With the support of the first team on the side, Telford pressed North Staffs, dominating possession and carving out good chances from down the wings. The breakthrough came from Tommy Lauder, whose reverse beat the keeper with accuracy to equalise for Telford!!

Even with North Staffs getting a green card, Telford couldn't find a way to get that winning goal, however it still felt like a point saved after being behind for the majority for the game.

MOTM went to Tommy Lauder, with DOTD going to Sammy. Next week Telford 3's face Beacon 3's away.
