Match Report

Telford 3's travelled to Bloxwich 2's for their first away game of the season. A 14 man squad traveled to the match, with Ben Edwards taking over manager duty from Cassie after a broken collarbone and concussion in training. Telford knew the game would be difficult but with Harry Gough joining our midfield ranks, the team were hopeful of a result.

Telford started well however the umpires whistle kept the pressure on Telford's goal. The first goal came from a short corner, which Bloxwich passed quickly around the Telford 'D' with one touch passes. Their second came from a controversial decision, with the ball hitting Moet's hand on his stick, with the umpire seeing a foot from somewhere that gave Bloxwich a penalty stroke. This handed Bloxwich a 2-0 lead, even with Telford playing the better hockey.

The team got into the Bloxwich 'D' many times, with Harry and Raj working the ball down the left side but failing to get a shot from open play. Half time came with the score 2-0 to Bloxwich, but the team knew a result was possible from this game.

The second half was closely contested, with umpiring decisions going against both teams. However even with the game being played mostly in the Bloxwich half, a mistake from the defence meant that Bloxwich could break, leading them to score their third goal past Dom.

Even after a 3 back to back short corners, Telford failed to make them count. A frustrating afternoon for the team, but positives to take from the game. Moet managed to get both MOTM and DOTD in the same game!!

Next week sees Telford face North Staffs 2's at St George's for a 4:30 pushback.
