Match Report

Telford travelled to Boots on Saturday in an important fixture, but were missing Dave Tracey, Phil Bailey and Sunny Sahota from last weeks 2-2 draw. Luke Stacey stepped in to cover the back line.

After a slow start Telford went 1-0 down after the Boots shot on goal was deflected past Neil Davies.

Tom Mallett equalised for Telford with a drag flick into the bottom right. Boots responded almost immediately with a goal of their own but Mallett was keen to get Telford level again. After capitalising on a slip from Boots’ central midfielder he ran into the ‘D’ and unleashed an unstoppable reverse which beat the keeper comprehensively.

Half time came with Telford the better of the two teams having grown into the game throughout the first half.

Despite Telford looking to build on the momentum they had built up at the end of the first half as Boots scored from their first short corner of the match.

Telford turned it round once again with Tom Mallett completing his hat-trick after picking the ball up off a rebound. His reverse strike found the roof of the net to make the scoreline 3 apiece.

The visitors had the better chances in the second half but could not capitalise on their dominance. It was Boots’ however who had the final chance of the game and won a penalty corner as the final whistle blew. Some great defending from Beefo, Vinny, Cal Stacey and Goughy ensured that Telford left Nottingham with a point.

A game that could have gone either way in the second half, but Telford showed great character in the game after trailing 3 times in the match. Another point means they have not lost in their last 4 games and tick off another point in their mission to stay in the Midlands Prem.
