Match Report | Telford travelled to West Bridgford on Saturday, knowing that they would be in for a battle against a team who started the day one point below then. Telford started the first half the better of the two teams, creating a number of half chances and having the more threatening possession. However, West Bridgford built into the game and began creating chances of their own. They opened the scoring when a rebounded shot was poorly cleared resulting in a free shot from the shoulder of the D. Telford went in at half time knowing that they were well in the game and that a good start to the second half was vital. Unfortunately, Telford let the opposition score a soft goal within minutes of the restart, when a player was allowed to run free top D, and his miss-hit reverse shot somehow founds its way to the far post for an easy tap in. This seemed to deflate Telford, with West Bridgford dominating the play and scoring 3 further goals. Despite 2 of these coming after questionable decisions, the scoreline did not lie. Telford did claw back a consolation goal through a Tom Mallet flick from a penalty corner, but it was too little too late. MOM was awarded to Will Gough for doing a solid job in at half back. |
