Match Report

The 1st XI were in action with a non-league fixture against a strong Stourport side.   It was Stourport who opened the scoring, although Lorna Burns equalised shortly afterwards.  The Telford side then applied considerable pressure and were rewarded with a penalty stroke when the ball was stopped on the line by a defenders foot.  However, the penalty stroke, taken by Captain Shirley Hasenauer was saved by the Stourport goalkeeper.  Almost immediately Stourport scored, giving a 2-1 score at the break.  We started the second half strongly and again dominated possession, forcing a number of excellent saves from the Stourport goalie, who was undoubtedly their player of the match.  However, a short corner strike and a goal in the dying minutes of the game resulted in a 4-1 win for Stourport.  The final scoreline was not a true reflection of the game, with us having the majority of the possession.

The game was seen as a great opportunity to put some new ideas into practice.  New youngster Becky Wealthall made her debut for the club and performed well. Anna Jones also returned and put in a fine performance sharing the player of the match votes with Sue Hughes.

The squad was Amanda Bailey (muppet), Courtney Lancaster, Karen Jackson, Shirley Hasenauer, Guayarmina Molyneux, Rachael Howells, Rebecca Wealthall, Sue Hughes, Kirsty Greenhead, Rachel Evans, Jodie Lane, Lorna Burns, Anna Jones.
