The first team were celebrating at the weekend after securing their place in the Midlands league next season following a 2-2 draw with Bridgnorth.
Despite taking the lead through a Sue Hughes penalty corner strike, the team struggled to settle into the game and found themselves 2-1 down at half time. Needing only a point to remain safe in the league, the team battled hard in the second half, with Lorna Burns scoring the important equalising goal from a penalty corner. The result sees the team lying fourth in the table, and guaranteed a top five finish and a position in the Midlands Feeder League for the 2014-15 season. After the match, Telford captain Shirley Hasenauer said 'Despite not playing our best hockey we dug deep to come back and achieve the required point to guarantee safety in the league for next season. It was a great team effort!’
