Women's 1st XI Vs Stone

We were on their travels in the league again this week, and came away from Stone with a 3-1 victory.  It was Stone who made the better start to the game but some determined defending, including a save off the line by Sandra Pattinson, prevented them from scoring.  The side then settled into the game and took the lead through a short corner strike from Sue Hughes.  After the break the lead was extended when a reverse stick pass from Lorna Burns was played into the goal by Jodie Lane.  Stone pulled a goal back, but the two goal cushion was re-established after Becky Wealthall made a run down the right before crossing to Rachel Evans whose first time strike found the back of the goal.  A number of excellent saves from goalkeeper Amanda Bailey(muppet), voted Player of the Match, prevented Stone from getting back into the game.   Captain, Shirley Hasenauer said ‘To have four points from two away games is a great start to our season’
