Match Report | Telford 2nd XI played their final friendly before the season kicks off against a mixed Stones team. With a delay in the start, Telford progressed the ball well throughout the first half, making excellent work of maintaining the ball round the back before attacking down the wings. Unfortunately, a quick counter by Stone left the Telford defence a bit flat footed allowing a 1 on 1 with the keeper, resulting in a goal for the away team. In the second half Telford rallied creating a number of chances from good linked play from the defence all the way through to the front, that just lacked the finish, whilst still remaining solid at the back, allowing Stone few opportunities on goal. This continued right through to the end with Telford unable to find that final touch that would bring the score level. Despite arriving without his shoes, Tom McKittrick hit the ground running becoming a key part of a number of attacking plays, earning him the Man of the Match award. All in all, a solid performance from Telford, despite the final score |
