Men's 4th XI Vs Oswestry 1st XI

With so many teams unable to play this Saturday, as friendly opponents cried off, the men’s 4th/5th team managed to keep their match with Oswestry. Telford started with an unfamiliar lineup with Paul, Matt and Archie returning to the team for the first time in over a year and Abraham and Josh moving up from junior hockey.

With Oswestry only having the one team, there was a considerable range of abilities in their squad-at least two of their players would easily fit in our 1st team!

Telford dug in hard but we’re 5-0 down by half time-all goals scored by the one player.

Not deterred by this, Telford continued to play attractive hockey with Abraham, Josh and Archie seeing more of the ball.  Roger popped up to score his customary goal before retiring for the afternoon and in the last few minutes the youngsters combined with a fluid passing move only to hit the post.

Even though Oswestry’s star striker had reluctantly dropped into midfield he still picked off 3 of their 2nd half goals to round off the match 10-1 victors.

Next Saturday sees the teams taking on Stone in the last of the preseason games.
