Men's 3rd XI Vs Old Wulfrunians 2nd XI

A sunny and warm Wolverhampton Grammar School pitch welcomed the 3rd team with a freindly game against the Captains former team Old Wulfrunians 2nds. 

With 12 men, we set up that the front section of players would be rotating and the defenders were to dig in for the whole game. 
1st half was well played by all and great tackling by Sahib, Raj and Rich kept Wulfs away from the D. Glyn and Scotty held the middle well, particuly as Wulfs had a skillfull guest on the field too. 
Roman, Ben, Sammy, Pip and new to the club Oliver Firmstone all played great passing hockey attacking the Wulfs D but the goals were not to come!

Half Time 0-0

2nd half and we kept the pressure on the attacking Wulfs but a quick ball on the left wing hit into the D to their centre forward who deflected the ball towards the goal to beat Brad on the near post. Goal Wulfs. 

Game continued and we quickly got ourselvs 2-0 down as their guest player had the ball land at his feet, and a good reverse shot had our goalie beeten again! 

Heads still high and with lots of energy we pushed on through with several shorts corners trying to get the goals back. Next short corner and Raj steps up, shoots and a deflect of a defenders foot gets the ball into the net! Goal! 2-1

Telford kept pushing to get another goal, but time was aginst us.

Notable mentions of the game. 

Scotty spending way too long thinking how his shot was going to break the back of the net and with the biggest swing ever, missed the ball and hurt his back insted! 

The Captain being ex Old Wulfs himself setting up to mark his player only to realise it was his own teammate Raj! 

A very good first game for the team and with great energy and commitment by all the players. Great Effort!
