Men's 5th XI Vs North Stafford 5

The last game of the season saw Telford 5ths head off to North Staffs. With a good mix of experience and youth the team were hopeful for a good result. 

Both sides took a few minutes to settle into the game but N Staffs were first to strike as they found a way round the back of the Telford defence. This was sufficient to put Telford on the forward foot. Controlled play in midfielfd from the two Johns, Thomas, Samuel and Connor lead to the front 3 of Will, Alan and Ewan finding more ways to apply pressure to the N Staffs defence and within 20 minutes Adam had converted 3 penalty corners to add to his total and put Telford in a commanding position. N Staffs struck back before the break to see the first half end with Telford in a 3-2 lead.

N Staffs must have had a good half time team talk as they applied plenty of pressure to the back five of Jim, Jerry, Paul, Alan and Adam. Unfortunately, their pace down the wings proved to make the difference and they managed to slot 3  unanswered goals past a determined Seth to finish the match 5-3 victors.

In our first season in the league the 5ths have finished a creditable 7th in the league and have shown that they are a match for just about anyone. With a few more strong youngsters making the step up to adult hockey, all is looking good to build upon this first season.
