Match Report

The penultimate match of the season saw the 5th team occupying their all to familiar 4:30 slot against Shrewsbury 4ths.

With a few players unavailable it gave us the opportunity to include a few of the Badgers who were ready to move up to adult hockey.

A bright start to the game didn't really result in any clear cut chances, although Ewan did find himself with a grounded keeper to beat only for defenders to step up and prevent an early goal. As is so often the case, all the pressure from Telford led to a break away and a deflected own goal from John past his own son. Telford rallied and kept the pressure up eventually leading to a nice deflection at the near post from Ewan to pull level. Ewan was then floored by their keeper which in turn led to a converted flick from Adam.

The second half started with more Telford pressure as Samuel, Thomas and John showed that they were more than ready to play at this level. Between the three of them they kept putting pressure on the Shrewsbury midfield which soon led to a couple more nicely taken goals from Goerge and Connor.

Shrewsbury then decided it was their turn to have some of the play and quickly retaliated with their second and third goals. However, Telford weren't to be caught and with 10 minutes to go some nice build up play resulted in Connor squeezing the ball in at the far post for his second of the match.

A good 5-3 win saw Connor collect the man of the match award ahead of our final match of the season away to N Staffs.
