Match Report

On a cold, wet afternoon the rain stopped just long enough for Telford 5ths to take on Oswestry. From the start, we knew that this would be an exercise in playing together as a team rather than a match. With Oswestry only having one team, the level of their playing ability far exceeds anything else in not only this division but also the next three up.

With that in mind, and knowing that Oswestry had scored 17 last Saturday, the 5ths dug in. Alex, in goal, knew he was in for a workout, and whilst Drew, Alan, Paul and Sam did their best to repel the advances the challenge was to see if we could keep the score down to less than last weeks.

Across the midfield Abraham, Will, Ian, Tyler, Leo, Jerry and Luke showed some really nice touches and some promise for the season ahead. What chances we did get were created from the midfield and Chris stepped off to leave the lads to it.

Whilst the 5ths lost 16-0, Oswestry were complimentary in the way that we played and especially so of the younger lads.

Man of the match was closely contended with Leo just pipping  the other junior players.

Next week sees the 5ths away to Stone 4ths.
