Match Report

Telford 3's welcomed Bridgnorth 3's to St. George's for the final game of the season. The team welcomed back Roman Randell from his fractured ankle, as well as Jack Hodnet also returning from his ban. With captain Chris Nightingale umpiring, Cassie was in charge of the 3 subs.

The game started with a Telford pushback, with the team looking to keep control of the ball and limit Bridgnorth from creating any chances. The first goal came from Job Woodrow hitting the ball across goal for Ollie Firmstone to deflect up into the top corner past the keeper!

Telford kept the pressure on Bridgnorth, with a second goal coming after the ball came to Ben Stevens in the D, whose shot was deflected off the keepers pads to Sahib, who buried the ball into the far corner - rather than over the bar and almost the fence like last week! 2-0 Telford!!

Telford remained in control of the game, with the back line of Jack, Billy, Stewart and Raj keeping Bridgnorth from scoring. Telford found themselves with a long corner, which Ben Edwards took, with Glyn Summerhayes deflecting the pass off his stick, with Ben Stevens receiving the ball outside the 'D', before running across the baseline and turning back inside, beating multiple defenders before slotting the ball through the keepers legs with a reverse flick! 3-0 to Telford!!

Halftime came and Telford were leading 3-0. Cassie supplied the usual halftime treat of haribo's for the team, whilst Raj and Chris gave their team talk. With promotion already secured last week, spirits were high to end the season with a big win against our local rivals.

The game was more even after half time, with Bridgnorths attack creating chances but Dom kept the ball out of the goal with some great saves. It wasn't until after a succession of short corners that Bridgnorth found their only goal of the game. However that didn't dampen Telford's spirits, with Ben Edwards making his usual runs through the middle of the pitch, before his reverse shot from wide in the 'D' scrapped its way into the far corner of the goal to make it 4-1 Telford.

Before the full time whistle came, Jon Woodrow decided to join in on the goal scoring action, stepping up from defence to dispatch a short corner to wrap up all three points for the home team!!

With 5 goals coming from 5 different goal scorers, the full time whistle wrapped up Telford's season, with second in the league scored, winning 16/22 games this season, scoring a total of 83 goals, and only conceding 34 for one of the best goal difference's in the league!!
