Men's 3rd XI Vs North Stafford 3

Telford 3's travelled to North Stafford 3's for a cold and wet lunchtime pushback. Telford welcomed Stewart Riddle to the third team, with Matt Denver also joining the squad for the game. 

Telford started the game strongly, keeping the pressure on North Stafford and keeping the ball inside the opposition half. Telford won multiple short corners, but struggled to put the ball away, until Stewart Riddle took a shot from the top of the 'D' that found its way into the bottom left corner of the goal! 1-0 Telford. 

Telford kept playing strong hockey, winning many turnovers in the opposition half. The second goal of the game came from Sammy just keeping the ball in play on the baseline, with the ball falling to Ben Stevens who reversed the ball into the goal. 2-0 Telford!

North Stafford started to work their way into the game, but it was Telford who scored the next goal courtesy of Matt Denver, who received the ball from Glyn, and turned, making a standing reverse hit which sent the ball into the corner of the goal! 3-0 Telford. 

Half time came and Captain Chris Nightingale enforced the message of keeping our hockey simple and not doing too much on the ball. 

The second half started more contested than the second half, with North Stafford getting the upper hand by getting the first goal of the half, with a quick play from a free hit leading to a shot across goal beating Bradley to make the score 3-1. 

North Stafford got a second not long after from a similar situation to bring the game to 3-2. 

Telford soon regained momentum and control of the match, with a a goal coming from Glyn putting the ball through the keepers legs, with Matt Denver beating the defender to the ball to smash home his second goal of the game. 4-2 Telford!

Telford switched to a 4-5-1 formation with Stewart dropping into the middle, in a hope to keep the ball and see the game out. However this didn't stop Telford from getting a fifth goal of the game, with Sahib driving the baseline and finding Matt Denver, who buried the ball into the goal for his third goal of the game!! 5-2 Telford!! 

The game finished 5-2, with Telford taking all three points to keep pushing towards promotion. With no game next week, Telford 3's next game is at home to fellow promotion hopefuls Barford Tigers 3's in two weeks.
