Match Report

Telford 3's welcome Sutton Coldfield 4's to St Georges, with the squad being joined by Moet, Tommy Lauder and Keeper Bradley Williams stepping in to cover for Dom. With captain Chris Nightingale unable to play with a broken finger from last weeks game, he took his place on the side line as our coach, with Cassie managing our subs once again.

Telford started the first five minutes well, controlling the ball and keeping possession whilst our opposition played with 10 men on the field. The game become closely contested when Sutton's other players arrived, however it was still Telford who took the lead, with Tommy Lauder eventually putting a reverse flick into the net after multiple attempts to get the ball past the keeper! 1-0 Telford!

Sutton equalised soon after, after a free hit outside of the 'D' was worked in for a shot across goal to find its way past Bradley to make the game 1-1. Sutton then managed to turn the game into their hands after defensive mistakes cost Telford two goals before a much needed Half time break came. 3-1 Sutton.

The half time message from the captain was to calm down and reset, and try to win the game with good simple hockey.

The second half was closely contested, with Telford finding their shape and looking to break through Sutton's defence. Telford brought the game back to 3-2 when telford worked a penalty corner well, when Moet's strike from the top of the circle was deflected up off the keepers pads for injector Glyn to volley the ball home.

Telford kept the press on Sutton with an equaliser coming when Tommy Lauder made a run through the middle of the pitch, making a great reverse flick pass over two defenders stick to put Ben Stevens through, who managed to lob the ball of the keeper to equalise the game! 3-3!!

Telford kept the pressure on Sutton to try and push for a winner, but we could not find it and the game finished 3-3 with Telford earning a hard fought point, but feeling like we should have taken all three.

Next week, we take on North Stafford 3's away in our bid for promotion.
