Men's 3rd XI Vs Old Wulfrunians 2

A 15 man squad travelled to Old Wulfs for a lunch time pushback, with hopes of another win to keep promotion in our sights.

Telford started the game well with the aim being press high and force the mistakes.

The first Telford goal came from successive short corners with Glyn eventually getting the ball to Sammy for him tap the ball in. 1-0 Telford!

Towards the end of the first half Ben Edwards made a great run through the centre of the pitch, beating multiple players, and made a reverse pass to Ben Stevens on the edge of the ‘D’, who comfortably put the ball around the rushing keeper to make it 2-0 Telford!

Half time came and the message from the captain was to keep passing it around them, protect the ball and keep it simple.

Telford quickly got into their stride in the second half with Matt Fennell-Fox grabbing two goals in quick succession with the first assisted by Glyn, and the second by Sahib with a great pass into the ‘D’. 4-0 to Telford!

Old Wulfs started to press us more, and earned themselves a goal, which Telford were convinced came off the foot of the goal scorer! 4-1 However, Telford kept their heads high and pushed for another goal, with Roman comfortable in possession getting the ball to Matt, who finished to round off his game with his first hat trick of the season! 5-1 Telford!

Late into the game Old Wulfs grabbed another goal after a lapse in concentration from Telford, but they saw out the game to win 5-2. A hard earned 3 points!

Telford will welcome Sutton Coldfield 4’s to St George’s next week as we push to stay towards the promotion spots.
