Men's 3rd XI Vs North Stafford 3

The Telford 3rd team welcomed North Staffs 3rd team to St. Georges. With the absence of skipper Chris Nightingale (on his sun lounge in Cyprus ) Raj Dhanjal led the troops today. The 3rd team welcomed season debuts to Bradley Williams, Ash Gillum, Ben Rollan and Billy France.Following two successive victories the team was looking forward to the game and confident they could get a result.

The game started off at a good pace, with North Staffs struggling to adjust to the fast St. Georges Pitch. Soon Telford were on the front foot with Ben Edwards setting up an excellent move involving Ollie Firmstone leading to a goal for Roman. Following the introduction of Ben Rollan two more goals were scored by Sammy and within 20 minutes Telford were 3 nil up. The youngsters were linking up really well and some excellent fluid moves tearing North Staffs defence apart. The final 10 minutes North Staffs came into the match and some excellent defending and good saves made by Bradley ensured Telford went into the half 3 nil up.

The captain warned of complacency in the second half and knew the next goal scored would be critical. Within a couple of minutes of the restart Ben Rollan pulled his hamstring and thus the players had to rally together to keep North Staffs at bay. Ben Edwards had an excellent half controlling the game with his decisive tackles and forages forward. Midway through the second half the 4th goal came courtesy of Roman following an excellent move by the youngsters. The rest of the half Telford controlled and restricted the chances that North Staffs had.

Overall an excellent game played by the thirds. Fantastic thanks to the umpires who kept the game under control and ensured no cards were issued as a result. The team now look forward to the trip to Birmingham to face Barford Tigers third team.
