Men's 3rd XI Vs Sutton Coldfield 4

Telford 3s sent themselves down the motorway to play against Sutton Coldfield with positive energy from last weeks win against Old Wulfs.

A sunny day and with a tactical win of the coin toss, the captain chose to swap sides to help Dom the keeper maintain a sharp and focused eye without the sun glare!

The game started and Telford pushed high forcing the Sutton Coldfield players into mistakes and capitalise on this we did!

First up, centre back Sahib making a run from the back to support the pressing midfield got himself a ball fed from Glyn and 2 steps into the D, launching a corner focused shot on goal beating the outstretched keeper! Goal 1-0 Telford.

Telford kept pushing Sutton and holding them in their half. Soon our 2nd goal came from a cracking shot from Sammy into the goal netting. 2-0 Telford.

Sutton’s keepers kept us at bay by producing some excellent saves for his team until 2 rapid rebounds from strikes from Ben Edwards and Sammy then managed to gift the ball back to Sammy who calmly slotted it away! Goal 3-0 Telford.

Half time came and all the talks was to carry on as we were, keep the high press and get the ball passed early etc.

No goals we scored in the 2nd half, their keeper looking after his area very well. Dom had one or two kicks and possibly did more exercise collecting the ball for 16 yead free hits!

The game ended 3-0 and a nice clean sheet for Telford 3s! Credit to the defence for super tackling and holding off the Sutton attacks. Good runs again from Ollie and Ben Edwards making space and our forwards for running and making the spaces. More goals are waiting to be scored by our forwards and each week we improve.  

Sutton being great hosts welcomed us back to their clubhouse for well hyped teas which were hugely deserved and I’m told tasted well.. (Captain and his car was broken down awaiting the AA back at the pitch so missed the teas!)
