Match Report

Today's fixture saw Telford 2nd XI home to a struggling Streetly side and hopes were high to continue the high level of play shown in last week's win against Old Wulfs. Unfortunately it was the opposition that started the strongest, pinning Telford into their half for the first 10mins. As Telford got to grips with the game, the play improved with a lot more intricate passing that has proven to be the undoing of teams in this league. The deadlock was finally broken with one of these passages of play resulting in a back post tap in for the diving Jon Cook. This was quickly followed up by a tidy finish from Matt Hadley-Moore at the near post having been played in by Sean Huffer. However, Telford's quality then dropped off with a quick break gifting Streetly a corner from which they pulled a goal back from a straight strike. Telford however rallied just before half time and added goals from John Perry (his 3rd in 3 games with his Christmas stick) and Jorge Hadley-Moore to go in 4-1 to the good. After a rousing half time team talk Telford were up for the second half. Despite a few dips in quality, the goal scoring form continued with both Matt and Jon both bagging their second goals alongside a first for returning striker Sean Huffer. In truth Telford could have had more with the Streetly keeper making some good saves and some missed opportunities from close range. All in all, a solid win for the 2nds as they strive for promotion, but also showing there is still room for improvement.
