Match Report

Telford travelled to 2nd placed Old Wulfs in a top of the table clash with Matt Denver (recent transfer from Old Wulfs!) making his debut for the 2s. Telford knew that a win away today would put them 10 points clear with a game in hand for Old Wulfs. The game started intensely with both teams playing an end to end affair. Just past the first quarter saw Telford begin to dominate with John Perry playing a brilliant pass through to Ollie Brannen who rounded the keeper and slotted it into the open net for Telford. The first half finished with some contentious decisions with Telford going into half time 1-0 up. The message from Captain Tom Williams was to keep up the intensity but also keep it stum with the decisions going to anyone. 5 minutes into the second half and Old Wulfs were awarded a controversial short corner which was converted into the bottom corner with not a lot that could be done by the defence. Telford did not ease up and put a lot of pressure on the Old Wulfs defence, leading to an immediate response where a great baseline drive from Gareth Hawkins led to the Old Wulfs defence trying to juggle to ball out of their defence with Jon Cook on hand to smash it into the net stealing it off the end of the defenders stick. Confidence was back with Telford and they continued to drive at the defence with constant pressure. Matt Hadley-Moore picked the ball up and dribbled through the defence before finding John Perry at the top of the D for a second week in a row for a top corner finish for the Telford midfielder - that new stick must be magic! The Telford lads didn’t let up with little troubling the well marshalled defence keeping on top. The game ended with a last minute goal from a diving Jorge Hadley Moore on the end of a Tom Jones pass! The game has left Telford 10 points clear with a storming goal difference of +37! Confidence continues to be high with Telford entertaining Streetly 2’s at St Georges next time out. MOM to Will Lorenz and DOD to Jorge Hadley Moore. Goals - Ollie B, Jon Cook, John Perry and Jorge Hadley-Moore.
