Men's 2nd XI Vs Bloxwich 2

Telford 2nd XI finished off their first half of the season with a home game vs Bloxwich. Missing vice captain Jon Cook, Will Lorenz, Matt Hadley-Moore and Tom Jones, a young side knew they would be in for a tough game. Despite a few promising attacks, Telford's start was largely slow and it was the opposition who struck first. A bobbling ball into the D made its way through the defence to a Bloxwich striker who turned the keeper and put it away from close range. Unfortunately it took a very similar goal to wake up Telford, who started to fight back and string some good play together resulting in their first Short Corner. Straight strike by Tom Williams ended up with Jorge HM who put it away, reacting first. Despite going into the second half 2-1 down, Telford rallied showing a much stronger performance. A well worked play from the back resulted in another Short, this time scored by the lively Ollie Brannon with a drag into the top left corner. Telford's control of the ball seemed to be getting to Bloxwich with more space opening up. Tom Bullock, who had a great game in the engine room, picked the ball up outside the 25 yard area and, explioting the space, turned and passed to Jorge HM on the edge of the D. He then shifted the ball and clinically slotted a reverse strike into the bottom corner. With victory in sight and less than 10 mins to play game management was key. Fortunately Telford were up to the task and retained possession and composure, with a late save from Nathan Capes keeping the 3 points safe. Telford 2nd XI therefore go into the Christmas break top of the league and look forward to building on this great start in the new year.
