Men's 2nd XI Vs Stone 2

Telford arrived today without their captain Tom Williams and without regulars Phiz and Gareth, Jon Cook stood in as captain with the return of John Perry following his trip to Canada. The 2's were off to a slow start in this home game against Stone, finding there first touch lacking and few opportunities made. With Stone playing with an extra man in the midfield, a quick counter resulted in Stone going 1-0 up early on. Telford held on despite green cards for Henry and Jon. A change of formation brought Telford back into the game with a great moment of passing play ending in a goal by Will G, ending the first half 1-1. The second half started better for Telford with the ball pace lifting and an increased movement off the ball. In short order Telford were 3-1 up, with two goals by Jorge. A miss hit unfortunately put Telford on the back foot and Stone capitalised bringing the score to 3-2. However, Telford responded immediately getting a short corner that was put away by Jon with a straight strike. Confidence was high and A strong cross by Tom J to a diving Jon resulted in another goal, with Telford ending the game 5-2. A hard working second half for Telford sees then still top of their league with a game in hand. The 2's travel to a tough Wednesbury next week.
