Match Report

After two weeks off, Telford 2nds resumed their season away to Finchfield 3rds. Early signs of rustiness were there as Telford felt their way into the opening exchanges. The deadlock was broken with a well worked goal with Adam Phizacklea crossing the ball across the face of goal for Jorge Hadley-Moore to poke home at the back post. Telford then looked to have hit their stride and the second goal came soon after from a short corner, Matt Hadley-Moore playing a one-two with Phizacklea before calmly rolling the ball home. By this point Telford were playing some lovely hockey and a well worked goal brought the third - Ollie Brannen working well on the baseline before crossing for Jorge Hadley-Moore to tuck home his second of the day. The latter exchanges of the first half got feisty between the two teams as tensions overflowed. Shortly after play resumed Finchfield made it 3-1 by pulling back from a corner routine with the rest of the half played out at a slow pace. With the game finely poised, Telford set out in the second half to reassert themselves, and were rewarded for their better play when Jon Cook intercepted an attempted clearance on the 25 yard line, strode into the D, putting his two first half sighters out of his mind and unleashed a rasping drive into the top corner with the keeper rooted to the spot. Within minutes the 5th goal came, with Matt Hadley-Moore teeing up Adam Phizacklea to work space in the D and strike low and hard past the keeper. Finchfield pulled a goal back from a questionable penalty flick while also engineering a succession of other chances, with wasteful final passes, defensive shape and a succession of good saves from debutant Dom Pritchard in goal, keeping them at bay. Ollie Brannen rounded out the win for Telford with a fantastic drag flick into the top corner. Telford will now look to take their winning form into their next fixture away to North Stafford.
