Match Report

An away visit to a bright starting Streetly was the fixture for the mens 2nd XI. With the absence of a number of regulars including Captain Tom Williams, Jon Cook was the match day captain with the team wanting to continue their impressive start to the season. Telford started on the front foot with confidence high and much of the game being played in the Streetly half, chances fell to most of the team however the clinical instinct that they have shown in recent weeks was missing. The deadlock was broken with Tom ‘Bully’ Bullock tapping in from a matter of inches to get his first goal for the 2’s. With this the floodgates opened, Lewis Moore has clearly been working on his back post positioning walking away with 2 well taken goals. Telford were firmly on top without playing the level of hockey that they have of late, Will Gough continued his goal scoring form with back post flick with the team going into half time 4-0 up.
A change of formation at half time saw Telford look to take the game to Streetly… however it was evident that the team became complacent and struggled to take their chances with a sole goal from Ollie Brannen being the only real highlight of the second half.
It’s safe to say, most teams don’t leave the pitch feeling disappointed following a 5-0 win away from home, this shows how far this team has come in a short space of time and the real desire to play their best hockey and as a team gain promotion from the division.
A solid start to the season with 3 wins from 3, confidence is high going into a 2 week break with the team looking to take this momentum into the rest of the season.
