Match Report

Telford 2nds faced Old Wulfs 1sts in their first home game of the season. Having drawn with Old Wulfs at the start of pre-season the boys knew it would be a competitive close fought game in the St George's rain. Telford started brightly but fell under intense pressure from the visitors for much of the rest of the first half. Against the run of play, Telford took the lead, Matt Hadley-Moore picking the ball up on the right wing before dribbling into the D and finishing with aplomb. A formation shift from the side line helped Telford get more control towards the end of the first half, but conceded a controversial short corner which was flicked into the bottom corner by Old Wulfs. A series of incredible saves from Nathan Capes kept the scores level going into the break. Telford started the second half with more intent, looking to get the ball moving much faster and make their mark on the game. Unfortunately it was Old Wulfs who broke the deadlock with two fine saves from Nathan ultimately falling to a forward on the top of the D who was able to bury the ball into the unguarded net. Telford rallied though with the boys showing great desire and intensity to get back into the game. It was rewarded when Ollie Brannen found his touch and scored two quick fire goals to put Telford 3-2 in front with Lewis Moore making up for an earlier back post miss to make the points secure and putting the home side 4-2 ahead. Telford then showed great control to see the game out bringing them their second win from two. Next week a trip away to Streetly 2nds beckons.
