Despite Telford and Wrekin making a strong start to the game, they found themselves a goal down within 5 minutes when a straight strike from a Burton PC found the back of the goal. Undeterred, Telford continued to press forward, and the scores were levelled when Grace Flynn fired home from a PC. Both Laura and Saffy had chances towards the end of the half but the score remained 1-1 at the break.
As with the first half, Burton made a strong start to the second. Hitting Telford on the break an unstoppable shot went into the roof of the net in the 37th minute and was followed by a second PC goal 5 minutes later.
Telford came back strong and had a number of chances but were unable to find a way past the Burton defence.
The score didn’t provide a true reflection of the game, as Telford had a lot of possession and a number of PCs and shots on goal. Burton proved to be a clinical side who coped better with pitch conditions than the visitors.
